"This is the Castillo de San Marcos Fort in St. Augustine FL. This fort was built in 1672 by the Spanish to defend St Augustine from Pirates (this fort is right next to the bay) it is one of the oldest buildings in US territory. This image shows the awesome size of this fort and also the unusual textures of the forts composition that is made up of sea shells and limestone called Coquina. The Spanish made the fort from these materials because it absorbed cannonballs and did not shatter like stone would."
